âť“ Who can join your chapter?
Anyone! We welcome individuals from across Eastern Ohio and Northwestern Pennsylvania, including gardeners, landowners, educators, students, and anyone curious about native plants and ecological landscaping. No experience required. Join here or shoot us a message if you still have questions!
❓ I live outside Youngstown—can I still participate?
Absolutely. We serve a broad region centered in the Upper Ohio River Basin, including Youngstown (OH), Mercer (PA), and surrounding communities. If you can travel to events or feel aligned with our mission, we’d love to have you involved.
âť“ How can I get involved or volunteer?
We will have plenty of ways for you to help, whether it’s staffing an event, joining a restoration workday, sharing your expertise, or lending behind-the-scenes support.
Let us get our ducks in a row, and there will be numerous ways to get involved in the future. Keep checking back for more ways to work with us, or if you’re super excited, email us for current opportunities.
❓ What’s a “native plant,” and why does it matter?
Native plants are species that naturally occur in a region and evolved alongside the local wildlife. They provide essential food and habitat for pollinators, birds, and insects—and they’re often low-maintenance and resilient once established. Learn more on our Native Plant Resources page.
âť“ Are your events family-friendly?
Most of them are! We strive to make our events inclusive and welcoming for all ages. If an event is specifically geared toward adults or involves physical labor, we’ll note that in the description.
❓ I’m overwhelmed. Where do I start?
You’re not alone—and you’re in the right place! Start by attending a casual event or browsing our blog. You don’t have to transform your whole yard overnight. Even a single native plant makes a difference.
